Anwar on Mahathir’s quit decision

Posted on 21 May 2008

KUALA LUMPUR:

Parti Keadilan Rakyat de factor chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s quit decision showed Umno’s worsening crisis.

He said the welfare of ordinary Malaysians was increasingly neglected because of the leadership crisis.

“Nonetheless, we must avoid being trapped by personal agendas,” he said in a statement. He urged Malaysians to join PKR and Pakatan Rakyat, the pact comprising PKR, DAP and Pas.

Meanwhile, Angkatan Muda Keadilan Malaysia (AMK) blames Tun Dr Mahathir for the problems in Umno.

Its chief, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, said as such whether Dr Mahathir returned to the party was irrelevant.
