Managing director of supermarket pleads not guilty to criminal breach of trust

A supermarket managing director pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to two counts of criminal breach of trust totalling RM2.4 million.

Ang Keat Chun, 52, who runs Bilion Shopping Centre, Pantai Timur Shopping Centre, Pantai Timur Tanah Merah and Pantai Timur Rantau Panjang is alleged to have committed the offence at Public Bank Kota Baru branch.

The first count involves RM1,695,946 allegedly committed between Jan 12 and Dec 9, 2004 while the second RM722,735 between Jan 12 and Dec 30, 2005.

If convicted under Section 409 of the Penal Code, Ang is liable to a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine.

Judge Siti Mariam Othman allowed him bail of RM60,000 with one surety and fixed Aug 25 for trial.
Ang, who was represented by lawyer Francis Ng Aik Guan, posted bail.
