KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA Education Bureau has helped 458 Chinese students in their appeals to obtain places in matriculation programmes in local universities this year.
Its chief, Dr Wee Ka Siong, said 1,300 students who sat for their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia last year sought his help in their appeal to the Education Ministry after failing to secure a place in the universities.
Wee, who is also Deputy Education Minister, said this during a press conference after the 8th International Workshop on Resource Mobilisation organised by the Resource Alliance, a non-governmental organisation based in Britain.
The workshop is aimed at building the capacity of NGOs to enhance their accountability, credibility and fundraising abilities.
About 400 participants from more than 50 countries are taking part in the workshop, which ends tomorrow.
