Soldier killed at police road-block

POH, Sat.:

A soldier was killed when he was hit by a four-wheel-drive vehicle whose driver was attempting to evade a police road-block in Taman Ipoh Selatan here early today.

The Toyota Hilux also skidded and crashed into three parked cars in the incident at Jalan S. A. Lingam.

The deceased, identified only as Private Raynerciwod of the Kem 2 Ranjer, died on the spot.

His body was sent to the Ipoh Hospital for post-mortem.

The 22-year-old driver of the Toyota Hilux was seriously injured while a 32-year-old woman passenger escaped with minor injuries.
Police have not ascertained their identities.

Ipoh traffic police chief, DSP Rodzi Rejab said the Toyota Hilux, which was coming from the town centre and heading towards Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, was said to have evaded a police road block when it veered off course and hit the soldier.
