KLANG: Police have recovered RM200,000 in cash believed to part of the loot from the automatic teller machine (ATM) theft in Equine Park last Tuesday, and arrested one of the suspects at a hotel in the Klang Valley early Sunday morning.
The man, who works for a security company, is suspected to be the “inside-man” who facilitated the RM650,000 theft from the three ATMs.
State police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar said the arrest of the man, who is in his 20s, brings the total of the suspects arrested so far for questioning to 13.
“Although we consider the case solved, we believe the latest arrest will lead to more suspects being picked up,” he told reporters after launching the Klang Royal Town Shooting Club in Meru here.
In the June 24 incident, the thieves sprayed eight CCTVs with black paint before robbing ATMs of about RM650,000 at a bank near Equine park in Puchong.
The theft was only discovered when one of the employees made a daily inspection of the grounds the next morning.
Police earlier picked up 10 security personnel and two others from around the Klang Valley within a few days of the theft.
