KEDAH’S enviable achievements this season have not gone unnoticed as they dominate the nominees for the 100PLUS National Football Awards which were announced yesterday.
Of the 10 awards at stake for the Aug 24 event at the National Sports Council in Bukit Jalil, Kedah have nominees in six categories.
Kedah, who have retained the Malaysian Super League and FA Cup titles, have players nominated for the Best Goalkeeper award for Helmi Eliza Elias (pic), Best Defender (Victor Andrag) and two players for the Best Midfielder in Khyril Muhymeen Zamri and Ahmad Fauzi Shaari.
They failed to get a nominee for the Best Striker award but have two players nominated for the Best Foreign Player category — Marlon Alex James and Bernard Huggins.
Kedah head coach Mohd Azraai Khor is down for the Best Coach and they also have Fazli Baharom being penned for the Most Promising Player.
FA of Malaysia general secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad and Datuk Kamal Harun, National Corporate Affairs Manager, F&N Coca-Cola (M) Sdn Bhd announced the nominees.
“For the current season, we have decided to do it a little differently from previous years where we are not using voting by SMS but via the FAM website,” said Azzuddin.
