Two possibilities:
1. Should everything said in the declaration is true, than Najib is in big trouble. The implication will be huge whereby it could jeopardize his chances on PM seats. Pak Lah will have to maintain as PM and Anwar will have to continue his mission against Pak Lah and BN.
2. Should the declaration is false, most likely it was fabricated by Anwar and Co to divert public attention from his sodomy case. I believe Bala’s statement has been reserved for Najib when he finally becomes PM. However, since the sodomy case is very critical and could very much jeopardize Anwar’s political career for good, Anwar have no choice but to use his secret weapon to divert the public attention.
I might be wrong, but since either one of the above pointed Anwar with the biggest motive and benefit, this theory is hard to be ruled out.
I always have the feelings that despite all pressure for Pak Lah to step down, Najib is not ready for the PM post yet. I think Pak Lah knows that. If we are talking for the sake of UMNO and BN, for me, at present, Najib is too vulnerable. His personality and his past have written a lot of story which can always be used as a weapon against him. Plus the interference of his wife Rosmah in his politic-business related would always be his achilles’s heels.
I think Pak Lah should rethink on his transition plan to Najib. He has to be very careful on choosing his successor, otherwise BN’s position could at jeopardy. At the same time, BN’s component, UMNO members and the public should stop the pressure against Pak Lah and give him as much time as he needs to consider the best candidate to replace him.
Even if in the end Najib is the only best person suitable for the job, much consideration is needed which will include political cost-benefit analysis.
Short term effect would be the delay of the transition plan and Pak Lah would have to stay as PM for a while. Despite all blame on him for the last election result, the inflation and the cronyism theory lead by his son-in-law, I think Pak Lah should stay as PM for a while.
Well, whoever next to become PM would still have to face the blame on the last election result and I don’t see any drastic matter could someone did better to counter the inflation as it is a global phenomenon. For the cronyism thingy, well any other person who have power will have this problem where perception and conspiracy theory would surface and spreading thru the internet and ‘kedai kopi’. Some could be true but that is the nature of politic. Therefore I doubt that by changing person as PM or even changing the government, all the above could be solve.
My conclusion is, the nation is in desperate needs of political stability. At present, best option would be for Pak Lah to maintain as PM for a while and the UNMO members to stay together rebuilding the party and work closely with other BN component to strategize the best possible way to run the country for the benefit of all.
I don’t see the opposition could do any better. Since we are approaching towards global recession, political stability is very crucial in order to determine how fast we could recover. The way I see it, the opposition is still struggling with their internal clash of ideology between their component and there is no way they could reach any stability any soon.
Not to be pro-BN, but looking at current situation, they are our best hope, at least for this moment and the near future…
