Bala’s house broken into

GOMBAK: Private investigator P. Balasubramaniam’s house in Taman Pelangi here has been broken into but police have yet to ascertain whether anything was stolen.
According to a neighbour, M. Eswary, a Form Four student, she noticed the back grille gate of Balasubramaniam’s house was ajar at 2.30pm yesterday.

GEMAS: A policeman has lodged a report against all his colleagues including his superiors allegedly over dissatisfaction on how the monthly bribes from those operating illegal activities was being distributed.
In retaliation, one of his superiors, a sergeant, lodged another police report against the policeman, a lance corporal, for allegedly selling station property to scrap dealers.

Benitez fear over Babel’s Beijing dream

LONDON: Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has warned Dutch winger Ryan Babel that playing in the Beijing Olympics could wreck his first-team prospects.

MADRID: Real Madrid have offered E20 million to sign Hamburg midfielder Rafael van der Vaart for five seasons, Spanish sports daily Marca reported yesterday.

The report comes one day after rival sports daily AS reported that the Spanish champions’ cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid had offered E15 million for the 25-year-old Dutch international.

Signature drive against logging in Ulu Muda

ALOR STAR: A group of 19 non-governmental organisations has launched a signature campaign against Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak’s plan to log timber in the Ulu Muda forest reserve.
