LONDON: Sir Alex Ferguson could be forced to do without more than half of his first-choice line-up for what has become a pivotal Premier League fixture with Aston Villa this weekend.
Back-to-back defeats by Liverpool and Fulham mean that United could have slipped to second place by the time they kick off against Martin O’Neill’s side tomorrow.
For that to happen, Liverpool have to beat Fulham and United start the weekend with the advantage of a game in hand over their biggest rivals as well as a single point lead.

“Cesc is ready to play again, but he’ll need two or three games to be back at his best,” Wenger said.
“But it will be good to have him in the team. We’ve got eight games in 25 days, all of them critical.”
