KLANG: A former Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd project director became the fourth person to be charged over the Port Klang Free Trade Zone (PKFZ) financial scandal.
Engineer Law Jenn Dong was slapped with 24 counts of cheating the Port Klang Authority (PKA).
He claimed trial to all charges at the Sessions Court here yesterday.
Law, who left Kuala Dimensi in late 2008, is accused of making 24 fraudulent claims totalling RM116.85mil.
Law, 51, is accused of misleading PKA into believing that the 33KV electrical infrastructure work for PKFZ had been completed in order to collect payment, in spite of knowing that it was not.
More arrests: A policeman escorting Law out of the courtroom in Klang Monday.He had initially been scheduled to be charged with architect Bernard Tan Seng Swee of BTA Architect last week but the authorities could not reach him at the time.
Law is said to have committed the offences between June 30, 2006, and May 30, 2008, together with Tan.
Also charged last week were former PKA general manager Datin Paduka O.C. Phang and Kuala Dimensi chief operating officer Stephen Abok.
DPP Dzulkifli Ahmad, who is anti-money laundering division head at the Attorney-General Chambers, and his colleague Manoj Kurup prosecuted while Tan Hock Chuan defended Law.
Dzulkifli proposed bail at RM1mil with one surety given the seriousness of the offence but Tan argued that the amount was too much for Law.
He also said Law had called the investigating officer after the other three had been charged and turned himself in.
Sessions Judge Yong Zarida Sazali set bail at RM250,000 with one surety and fixed Feb 4 for mention.
Law, who was brought to the court at 10.30am yesterday, was handcuffed when escorted by police to the court registry to settle the bail.
Kuala Dimensi chief executive officer Faizal Abdullah was also in court and accompanied Law and his counsel to the registry.
The PKFZ scandal, believed to be the country’s biggest financial fiasco, came to light after the cost to develop the 400ha integrated cargo distribution hub spiralled from RM2bil to RM4.6bil.
